Keeping our mutual patient's information protected is extremely important to us, and we want to make sure we are being secure in all communications with our teams.
When discussing patient cases or orders, please:
• Use order numbers or patient IDs whenever possible (these are perfect identifiers without exposing PHI)
• If you must reference a specific patient, use initials + date of birth
• Delete any messages containing initials and DOB once the issue is resolved
What to avoid:
1. Full patient names
2. Leaving PHI in the channel history longer than necessary
We know things move fast and it's easy to share details quickly, but taking these extra steps helps us stay compliant and protects our patients' privacy.
